  • Understands and interprets government legislation and collective bargaining agreements to ensure compliance with pay, deductions, benefits, taxes, and documentation requirements.
  • Maintains all aspects of district payroll system setup, where required.
  • Reconciles and remits all company and union benefit liabilities, including but not limited to WCB, CRA, and provincial health.
  • Reconciles and prepares payroll year‑end reporting for hourly craft employees, including T4s Relevé 1s, and T2200s.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer‑focused relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of unionized payroll administration experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of payroll processes, statutory laws, and labour agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply collective bargaining agreements to payroll administration.
  • Experience with the preparation, reconciliation, and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external remittances.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain performance when faced with tight deadlines and frequent changes.
  • Ability to act with the required discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and automated payroll processing systems.
  • Actively working toward or completion of the Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) certification is desirable.
  • Experience with JDE or Oracle payroll systems is considered an asset.
