Overview

The Operations Manager oversees the business for the assigned division. This includes, but is not limited to, customer service, safety, operational efficiencies and overall personnel management within the division. This position is responsible for managing the revenue and cost elements for the division, requiring involvement with sales and marketing initiatives, as well as the day-to-day operations. The Operations Manager is relied upon for effective planning, delegation, coordination, staffing, organizing and decision making to attain profitable results for the division.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily updates to the District Manager.
• Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations including scheduling, workforce planning / coordination and liaising with customers and other contractors.
• Conduct site visits prior to submission of quotes / tenders; in conjunction with the business development team to prepare and submit quote / tender packages and estimates.
• Ensure operations are conducted in accordance with EH policies / procedures, within permit conditions and to customer specifications with a significant focus on health and safety, participating on the JHSC.
• Strong focus on safety, maintenance and housekeeping in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Lead, motivate and develop direct reports using Annual Performance Reviews.
• Manage Job Task Observations (JTOs), Hazard Identification and Field Level Hazard Assessments.
• Resolve and record all employee-related issues including those requiring disciplinary action.
• Ensure that employees receive training adequate for the jobs they perform to maintain a safe workplace.
• Report and investigate all incidents, safety infractions and non-compliance issues; participate in investigations and development of corrective actions.
• Consult regularly with operational supervisors and the procurement group to monitor inventory levels to ensure readiness to respond to customer needs.
• Support continuous improvement processes and procedures.
• Support customer and regulatory reporting.
• Manage asset and labour utilization, facility and equipment maintenance and housekeeping.
• Capital project management.
