You will oversee the day-to-day administration of the facilities and office services departments and operations of various HR functions in the Montreal office including providing leadership and coaching. You will be a key point person and liaise with the Building Property Management team for any building notices, repairs and maintenance. You will drive the health and safety team initiatives within the office and work with the health & safety team to ensure compliance. This role will also assist with the planning and execution of local office social events and local charitable initiatives. You will also liaise with the local and national IT team on day-to-day IT issues.
As an HR professional, you will collaborate with the national HR team and support the administration of various HR functions, including recruitment, performance management, compensation, and employee relations, all while adhering to the Employment Standards of Quebec. You will ensure the office and its operations are in compliance with the Office québecois de la langue française (OQLF) requirements for French language in the workplace. You will play an active role in fostering a work environment that is inclusive, collaborative, and engaging as well as focus on employee engagement and clear communication for various employee programs such as service recognition, wellness and professional development. You will support the compliance requirement for pay equity as per -The Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) as well as the 1% training obligations under the Commission des partenaires du marché du travail (CPMT). With support from the National Director HR & Business Services, you will manage a team of legal administrative assistants, including share group team coordination ensuring effective resource management, identifying efficiencies, approving vacation, lieu and overtime. You will also conduct new hire orientations and office tours as well as exit interviews for the Montreal office. Finally, you will support all local initiatives, projects, and programs all while exemplifying our firm values of teamwork, professional excellence, commitment, respect, and client-service.
What You Bring :
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a Human Resources Generalist role; legal or professional services environment is an asset
- Bachelor’s Degree and / or completion of a post graduate Human Resources Program
- An HRPA designation is considered an asset
- Previous supervisory and / or management experience is required
- Demonstrated enthusiasm, strategic leadership, coaching, facilitation, and relationship management skills
- Proven ability to partner with a variety of stakeholders, an ability to listen and to build confidence, interacting with people at all levels of the organizational with tact, diplomacy and in a professional manner
- Develop, coach and motivate people and foster a positive work environment
- Effective organizational, problem-solving, planning and analytical skills; demonstrated use of sound judgment and reliable decision making
- Ability to perform well under time constraints to meet deadlines
- Ability to resolve problems effectively exercising creative and analytical thinking
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team based environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and generally able to embrace new technology / information systems.
