Job description

Training Officer for provincial government client, Sioux Lookout, Northern Ontario.

Marberg Job Number :  2506.

Job Type :  Temporary.

Initial Term : ASAP for approximately 1 month.

Compensation : $25 per hour.

Regular Work Hours : A minimum of 7.25 hours per day not including .75 hour unpaid lunch break, to be worked on a rotating shift between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm, Monday through Sunday, for between 20 to 40 hours per week. Additional paid hours and overtime hours will be required according to business need.

Work Location :  100% onsite at client's work site, located in municipal conference centre.

Responsibilities Summary :

Training and preparing team of temporary customer service and clerical staff to receive and assist members of the general public with program service delivery, for short term project.

  • Organize supplies and equipment for training sessions.
  • Work with Recruitment Officers to schedule training sessions.
  • Conduct training sessions for temporary customer service and clerical staff team members in both one-on-one and group presentation sessions.
  • Additional training delivery and administration responsibilities as required.

Qualifications :

Education : Post secondary education or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Work Experience : At least 1+ years of experience in adult education and training.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements :

  • Strong technical proficiency in MSOffice PowerPoint
  • General proficiency and familiarity working with PC equipment and peripherals
  • Excellent English communication skills, including advanced level business writing skills and superior verbal presentation skills and delivery suitable for a diverse audience.
  • Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes :

  • Demonstrated experience with adult education including delivering training sessions.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of people with disabilities or barriers to communication.
  • Demonstrated record of professional conduct and character. Responsible, reliable and works to deadlines.
  • Pleasant and courteous. Demonstrated commitment to client service and professional representation of the organization.
  • Proficient de-escalation skills. Ability to surmount internal and external job pressures. Excellent listening skills, and the ability to provide and receive effective feedback.
  • Proven ability to professionally handle confidential information and exercise good judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy.
  • Advanced organizational, coordinative and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively for self and others, meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and engage with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders, at all levels of seniority.
  • Demonstrated successful experience of prioritizing work, making decisions and communicating with others within a values framework of respect, equity, anti-racism, diversity and inclusivity.
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies
  • Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities.
  • Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
  • Satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, and Employment References.
