Medavie Health Services West (MHSW) is the subsidiary of Medavie Health Services responsible for the optimal operation and management of EMS Services in Central Alberta, an integrated, pre-hospital care organization. The EMR provides timely transportation between appropriate facilities. Due to the nature of operating in the public eye, a high level of professionalism, communication, and knowledge is always expected. The EMR is required to conduct themselves in a safe and discreet manner, with the responsibility of conduct justification to patients, family members, hospitals staff, management, public agencies, legal court, and more. As an employee of MHS, you are accountable to our patients, coworkers, and management by supporting all safety-related initiatives, as well as fostering a culture that focuses on patient safety and a safe workplace.
DUTIES AND TASKS
Non-Emergency Transport
- Maintain personal knowledge and skills, in accordance with the Alberta Occupational Competency Profile (AOCP), to deliver optimum patient care.
- Safely operate MHS - West vehicles in accordance with MHS - West Health and Safety Manual, Operational Guidelines, and all provincial and federal regulations.
- Stocks and maintains vehicles in a state of readiness at all times.
- Work in hazardous environments to ensure the safety of the patient.
- Work with outside agencies as a team in a coordinated effort on behalf of the patient.
- Document all patient care, assessments, and skills, within the patient care report in a timely and legible fashion.
- Punctual and ready to respond at the start of their shift.
- Act in a professional manner and handle conflict situations with good judgment.
- Follow the MHS - West chain of command.

QUALIFICATIONS :
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Alberta Operators License class 1, 2 or 4.
Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics
Completion of Alberta Health Services MCP’s
LICENSE / CERTIFICATION :
Certified in and maintains CPR certification.
Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics
