Software Developer (C++/C#)

What you will be doing

• Design and build across our SCADA platform including data acquisition, alarms, auditing, database components.
• Build and maintain SmartVU and other desktop UI applications used daily by utility operators and engineers.
• Help grow our platform's footprint into API and web development.
• Profile, debug, and optimize performance-sensitive, real-time code.
• Work directly with customer-facing teams to troubleshoot and solve issues that matter to utilities customers.
• Help build out test automation and modern engineering practices as the team scales them up.
• Use modern development tools and your own engineering judgment to deliver reliable, maintainable, and high-quality software.
• Comply with Survalent’s ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Information Security Management System (ISMS) Policy.
• Comply with Survalent’s ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) Policy.
• Perform additional duties as required to support product, team, and organizational success.

What you’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing large, complex software systems, preferably in a Windows environment.
• Strong experience with C++, STL, and modern C++ standards.
• Experience with .NET and C#; knowledge of WPF and MVVM is an asset.
• Experience developing multi-threaded, real-time, or performance-critical applications.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and software design patterns.
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, and data modelling.
• Ability to understand, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve existing codebases.
• Experience with electrical grids, substations, SCADA, or industrial control systems is an asset.
• Experience with Git or Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence is an asset
• Experience with TCP/IP sockets, IPC, or Windows API is an asset.
• Strong interest in REST APIs, or web development is an asset.
• Familiarity with DNP3, IEC 61850, or Modbus communication protocols is an asset.
