  • Create proposals and fee Letters as assigned with Lighting Design Principal guidance.
  • Explore opportunities for value added services and new markets.
  • Carry out client centric Lunch and Learns with Architects, Interior designers and other design based disciplines.

  • Provide insightful and enthusiastic leadership, paying attention to employee morale.
  • Complete performance reviews of all direct reports and sit in on all performance reviews.
  • Assist with interviewing new employees for future recruitments as requested.
  • Work with the heads of all functional areas to solve inter-departmental problems.  Interview, train, motivate, supervise, and discipline all direct reports.
  • Ensure department procedures and standards are being followed by all their team members and to ensure quality of work and deliverable meets ALULA standards.
  • Production

  • Attend and participate in weekly Lighting team meetings, or run the meeting if Lighting Principal is unavailable.
  • Perform quality control to ensure team is in compliance with ALULA procedures and design standards, that all projects are staying on track and on schedule.
  • Facilitate coordination and communication within team to support smooth day-to-day operations and improvement activities, including sharing resources between ALULA teams.
  • Monitor project performance and production utilization and report / communicate with Lighting Principal when necessary.
  • Thorough knowledge of the lighting industry, including luminaire trends and research, mock-up and assessments.
  • Familiarity with legacy light sources (fluorescent, compact fluorescent, H.I.D., and incandescent / halogen) and lamp shapes is required for potential lighting retrofit style projects or existing facility renovation projects.
  • Senior Lighting Designer or Associate should already have strong relationships with lighting manufacturer, reps, and clients.
  • Responsible to attend on-site (in town or out of town) lighting surveys, meetings, presentations, mock-up sessions, or final fixture aiming / focusing.
  • Skills & Qualifications
