Our client is a well established M&E Consultancy who also Design and Build throughout Canada, they are currently looking for a technically astute Electrical Estimator / designer.

Our client was founded over years ago, providing mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and communications design on a fascinating variety of commercial and institutional buildings, new and renovated. With their main office located in uptown Toronto and has associated and established offices in Vancouver, Kelowna, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, London, Ottawa and Winnipeg.

The Toronto office is currently seeking an Engineer / Designer specializing in Electrical Systems, complimented with the ability to product drawings on Revit / CAD / MEP.

The Designer will work with the Project Manager and independently depending on project scope. Candidates will be team players who are highly motivated with good communication skills. The candidate would work under the direct supervision of a Principal or Project Manager.

Engineer / Designer Qualifications : Candidate(s) must :

Possess or more years of experience in the field of electrical building services
A with equivalent experience and abilities will be considered
Demonstrate a strong desire for advancement and professional development
Demonstrate the ability to work in complex environment often driven by project deadlines
Be college graduates of an electrical building services program
Have AutoCAD training from a recognized College and have exposure to electrical layouts and systems. Knowledge of AutoCAD MEP is preferred
Be familiar with systems such as fire alarm, communication and other specialized electrical systems
The amount of experience would adjust the level of responsibility of the successful candidate’s position

Engineer / Designer Responsibilities :

Performing specific tasks assigned by Principal or Project Manager in defined time

Perform site surveys as required

Perform CAD tasks assigned within given hours

Adhere to AutoCAD and AutoCAD MEP standards

Check layouts and services for continuity

Co-ordination of drawings with codes

Supervision of drawings between other disciplines

Prepare AutoCAD drawings from sketches, mark-ups and / or design

When requested to prepare CAD drawing from sketches or mark-ups, upon completion verify CAD drawings against such sketches to ensure accuracy of work

To develop lighting layouts and co-ordinate with other disciplines

To develop power distribution layout and sizing

To develop layouts of electrical / switch / transformer rooms

To be familiar with lighting calculations and perform such calculations

Any other tasks assigned by Principals or Project Managers required to assist in the success of the firm
