At BFP, we are committed to delivering quality products to every customer. Our Oakville facility’s product line includes the custom design and builds of hydraulic power units, hydraulic manifolds, multidiscipline projects, pneumatic panels, control panels, valve stands, and wire harnesses.

The hiring BFP location in Oakville is an industry leading build-to-order manufacturer of custom Hydraulic and Pneumatic solutions for various industrial and mobile applications. We are currently looking for a Junior Designer to join our team. The Junior Designer serves as the technical drafter using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, and is responsible for developing accurate technical packages for hydraulic power unit and manifold projects. This role is an entry level role to fluid power and can lead to a rewarding career in senior design, applications engineering and sales, product management or other.

Reports to : Engineering Manager.

Works in collaboration with : Design Team, Shop Foreman, Production Coordinator, Production Planner, Buyer, Suppliers, Inside and Outside sales staff.

Oversees / Responsible for : Technical documentation for hydraulic power unit and manifold projects, including hydraulic schematic drawings, general arrangement drawings, data sheets, and calculations in relation to flow, pressure, power, and basic heat transfer under supervision.

Duties and Essential Job Functions :

• Safely carry out all assigned duties in compliance with all Health & Safety requirements.
• Create quotes for simple entry-level and medium-complexity hydraulic power units and manifolds using the internal company system in collaboration with sales and purchasing.
• Manage and develop assigned projects from the quotation stage through to project closeout by collaborating with sales, purchasing, and shop personnel to ensure the required schedule, budget, and scope are met.
• Develop hydraulic and pneumatic schematics using AutoCAD, as well as general arrangement assemblies in SolidWorks, based on information provided in data sheets, with the support of senior designers.
• Select threads, anchor points, and mounting holes for equipment, and design steel framing and supports for various types of industrial equipment.
• Size and select appropriate instruments, equipment, electric motors, pumps, valves, pressure regulators, relief valves, and any other hydraulic or pneumatic components required to fully meet customer specifications and applicable industry safety and quality standards.
• Create technical manuals for projects completed and product As Built drawing after implementing changes, corrections, and feedback from the shop.
• Implement 5S initiatives in the shop and / or office.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
