Our client is seeking a Manager, Scientific Computing to join their team. Reporting to the Director of Neuroinformatics Operations and the Chief Technology Officer, this role focuses on delivering IT and informatics services to support the research community, overseeing computational research infrastructure, and leading a dedicated IT support services team.
This position is a 1 years fixed term contract with the expectation of permanent employment after one year.
Role Overview :
The Manager, Scientific Computing will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational direction for research IT and scientific computing. This includes :
Identifying opportunities for innovation and process improvement.
Collaborating with stakeholders within the organization and externally.
Maintaining vendor relationships and ensuring favorable contract terms.
Managing scientific data storage, processing, sharing, and quality control.
Leading the high-performance computing (HPC) program.
Overseeing the maintenance and enhancement of scientific computing infrastructure.
Supporting budget planning, strategic planning, and change management initiatives.
Supervising and mentoring a technical infrastructure team, including recruitment, performance management, and professional development.
Responsibilities :
Operational Excellence : Direct research informatics infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of the research community.
Technology Integration : Assess current and future technologies, recommending strategies to enhance infrastructure and informatics services.
Team Leadership : Manage a team of Informatics Specialists, setting objectives and fostering continuous improvement.
Infrastructure Management : Develop and oversee infrastructure plans, timelines, and KPIs.
Cybersecurity : Ensure informatics systems meet best-practice cybersecurity standards.
Budget and Procurement : Manage budgets for software and hardware, overseeing procurement processes.
Communication : Prepare presentations and reports for stakeholders, tracking service delivery metrics and progress.
Qualifications :
A university degree (BSc) in healthcare, health informatics, computer engineering, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience leading research informatics and infrastructure teams.
Expertise in high-performance computing, storage, and research data platforms.
Experience managing complex informatics projects and clinical research environments.
Experience in AI Infrastructure and Machine Learning Operations
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of research data capture and management.
Industry experience in healthcare or research is highly desirable
