Baycrest is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager, Health Informatics to join our Digital Health team. Reporting to the Director of Digital Health Transformation, this position will play a key role in optimizing, developing, and implementing health information systems to enable clinical workflow. In particular, this role will provide the Health Informatics services required to deliver the relevant Digital Transformation enablers within Baycrest Hospital’s five-year strategy. The Manager of Health Informatics is a key leader in providing Health Informatics subject matter expertise, with a focus on enhancing client care and efficiency through technology, health information, and project management. This role will be responsible for supporting Baycrest’s operational and strategic plans as it pertains to Digital Health by engaging key stakeholders throughout the organization and leading a highly skilled and experienced team. Project management, communication, and collaboration are core expectations of this role.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Leading a team of health informaticians, system educators, and project managers.
  • Communicate and cooperate with information, technology, clinical and administrative colleagues to ensure timely, efficient and cohesive planning and delivery of Health Informatics initiatives.
  • Collaborate with clinical champions, partners, consultants, and vendors to ensure effective systems implementation.
  • Facilitate clinical engagements to identify challenges, solutions, and opportunities for workflow optimization.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of standard operating procedures, systems standards, and policies to ensure adherence to industry best practices and delivery of high-quality service.
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiation and evaluation, in alignment with project deliverables.
  • Lead the ongoing professional development and growth of the Health Informatics team.
  • Provide financial oversight of approved budgets and manage the associated fiscal expenditures.
  • Identify when strategic and operational targets are at risk or off track; recognize when to escalate to the Director of Digital Health Transformation for timely support in risk mitigation and barrier clearing.
  • Propose operating plans with the supporting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and regulatory standards and contribute to a culture of patient and client safety.
  • Build relationships with internal and external partners in order to foster a cohesive and productive environment.

Qualifications include but are not limited to :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Health Services Administration, IT, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years progressive experience in a complex, integrated information and technology environment, with a strong focus on health informatics.
  • Minimum of 4 years comparable leadership experience including supervising a clinical information systems team of 10 or more, providing technical guidance, advice and consultation to healthcare leaders (e.g. frontline professionals, managers, and directors), overseeing transformational projects across a complex group of clients with competing priorities.
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated proficiency, with certification strongly preferred, in Project Management (e.g., PMI), Process Improvement (e.g., LEAN), or Health Information Management Systems (e.g., CPHIMS).
  • In-depth understanding of Microsoft cloud technologies, including solutions for : software development, robotic process automation, data integration, workflow digitization, and systems interoperability.
  • General knowledge of health information privacy and cyber-security standards, including PHIPA.
