Course Description:

An introduction to current human resource practices in Canada, emphasizing the role of Human Resource Management in enhancing performance, productivity and profitability of the organization. Topics include recruitment, selection, training, career planning and development, diversity and human rights issues in the work place.

Qualifications:

Minimum: A master’s degree in organizational behaviour/industrial-organizational psychology OR a master’s degree in social/personality psychology with at least 2 courses at the graduate level in organizational psychology. A strong academic record along with previous experience teaching this course or a similar course at the undergraduate level OR experience with activities related to teaching this course (e.g., experience being a teaching assistant, teaching some sessions of the course, experience in course development etc.)

Preferred qualifications: In addition to the minimum: A Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior or Industrial-Organizational Psychology OR a Ph.D. in Human Resources Management/Social/Personality Psychology with at least 2 courses at the graduate level in organizational behaviour/organizational psychology. A strong academic record along with previous experience teaching this course or a similar course at the undergraduate level with good teaching evaluations.

Duties:

All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades, holding regular office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student and administrative contact, supervision of T.A. assigned to course.

Estimated TA Support (Hours):

Approximately 50 minutes per student enrolled over 30

In considering qualified applicants, teaching excellence, currency in and mastery of subject area; previous experience in teaching a similar course at undergraduate (university) level or similar environment; several years related professional experience shall be the criteria used in the selection of the most qualified candidate in accordance with Article 14:12.

Salary for a half-course (0.50 FCEs) inclusive of vacation pay: The Sessional Lecturer I rate of pay will be $9,99.47. Sessional Lecturer I-Long Term rate of pay will be $10,699.22. Sessional Lecturer II rate of pay will be $10,699.22. Sessional Lecturer II-Long Term rate of pay will be $10,953.96. Sessional Lecturer III rate of pay will be $10,953.96. Sessional Lecturer III-Long Term rate of pay will be $11,228.90.
