Kawartha LakesOntario, CAORGANIC / REGENERATIVE FARMING
We are looking for individuals who are interested in helping with a start-up regenerative organic farm. We have many projects that we need assistance with such as buliding and watering herbs and vegetable bed, (harvest when ready) put up fencing and fruit trees, make trails for hiking, and feed the layer hens and meat birds. Harvest herbs for medicinal use and personal care products.
You in turn will learn the fundamental principles of regenerative agriculture, focusing on soil building techniques. You will also learn tree and herb identification and how to prepare salves, tinctures and skin-care products. We have started a CSA program, so help is needed with that and at the farmers market.
A typical work day will begin at 8 : 30am by feeding the chickens, giving them fresh clean water, collecting eggs. Then attend to the herbs and vegetable beds, plant, water and weed as needed. Break for lunch at 12 : 00 to 2pm. Afternoon continue in beds or help with major project for the day such as makiing trails, fencing etc. Last assignment for the day would be to feed the animals at 5pm clean up work area, day ends at 5 : 30pm.
Some experience is helpful but not mandatory.
The volunteers can stay in our home while working with us in their own bedroom and separate bathroom. We provide two meals, brunch and dinner. Volunteers are free to make breakfast.
