The Opportunity :

Anessential member of the CGMH team and Health Information Systems, as an expertin Health Information Management and leader in coding and abstracting withknowledge of PHIPA and release of information. Please note that this full-time position is specifically for inpatient coding (DAD).

Qualifications :

• Graduate of an approvedHealth Information Management Program.
• Experience in MeditechExpanse is required
• Must be a member ingood standing with the Canadian Health Information Management Association(CHIMA) and Certified with the Canadian College of Health InformationManagement (CCHIM)
• 3 years’ experiencecoding / abstracting with DAD
• Previous experienceworking in Release of Information would be considered an asset.
• In-depth knowledge ofCIHI’s Guidelines / Principles, MED2020 Abstracting System and Microsoft OfficeApplications
• Must strive tocontinuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff,physicians, and volunteers
• Must adhere to theduties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Must have an ability toeffectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in orderto provide excellent communication with team members, patients and families.Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset.
• Must have basiccomputer skills
• Must be dedicated toprofessional growth & development
• Must be able to performall bona fide and essential duties of the position, which may include physicaldemands such as moving / transferring patients, pushing, pulling, bending, etc.
