Reporting to Director, Displays & Sensors and Core Hardware, and working with peer Engineering Managers, Program Managers, and Product Managers, lead multidiscipline hardware design teams in the planning and execution of the development of innovative and competitive electronic hardware solutions, on budget, on schedule while meeting the customer needs and quality requirements. Continuously promote design excellence, innovation, and competitiveness.
As a Engineering manager Core Hardware your day-to-day responsibilities will include :
- Lead and mentor a team of multi-discipline hardware development staff including Electrical, RF and PCB design and development.
- Support all direct reports in meeting their on time delivery commitments while respecting scope, budgets, schedules and quality requirements.
- Responsible to hire, develop and train the staff to deliver the required capability with innovative solutions.
- Foster technical and professional growth for the design team. Monitor staff performance, provide regular feedback and execute the performance review process yearly.
- Communicates and supports the development and implementation of CMC process and efficient product development practices on all projects, in accordance with overall transformation plan to reduce waste.
- Participate, in collaboration with peer engineering and product mangers in product lifecycle management (roadmaps, obsolescence and support to strategic planning)
- Coordinate, review and approve design estimates for Electronics hardware development.
- Review development projects technical progress and performance through program reviews, providing metrics and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Develop and monitor plans to mature and de-risk new technology.
- Work with direct reports to coordinate and maintain HW lab facilities including security, ESD practices, equipment maintenance and calibration requirements.
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Ten (10) years of experience in Electrical Hardware development for commercial and / or military aviation applications.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, and display ability to complete and manage projects without instruction.
- Leadership qualities, organizational skills, analytical skills, urgency, flexibility, ownership and a strong work ethic in their daily work.
- Solid understanding of financial concepts, risk management, estimating concepts, and industry practices is required.
- Combination of strong supervisory, technical, leadership and managerial skills to engineering design team.
- Knowledge of Qualification and certification processes for military and commercial aircraft.
- Experience in requirement definition and management.
- Ability to prepare and present executive level briefings.
- Bilingualism (oral and written French and English)
