Number of Available positions :

As a senior member of the Corporate Information Technology Management team, the Manager of Application and GIS Services will manage a core team of Supervisors, software developers and data base administrators, GIS specialists, and Business Analysts / Project Leads in support of a diverse portfolio of legacy software systems from a support perspective, as well as creation of new applications that are in alignment with the business objectives of the Region. This individual will plan, coordinate, direct and design software architecture, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operations. The incumbent will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost effective technology solutions for all aspects of the Region's operations. The incumbent will also promote and implement Corporate IT policies, procedures and best practices.

The incumbent will :

• Oversee new software design and ensure systems are supported and maintained
• Lead the application development groups; understand high level tasks and be responsible for delegation of sub-tasks
• Be responsible for Production and Test Source Code Management, as well as version promotion into production
• Be an integral part of the management approval team in the Change Control Process
• Manage the Supervisor of GIS who leads the GIS professionals to further develop and implement the Corporate GIS Strategy
• Manage the Supervisor of Applications who leads the developers and provides quality assurance / technical review of applications
• Oversee developer specifications from Business Analysis Documentation
• Ensure timely investigation of production application problems
• Ensure best practices are followed in code construction, testing and implementation
• Research industry trends and changes and consult with departments to gather information on future changes and / or operational needs
• Allocate staff resources, coordinate project teams and monitor budget commitments through the systems development process
• Manage the budget for the section
• Coordinate staff training and education required to sustain all services
• Build relationships with other departments to foster development of corporate information technology program
• Perform staffing responsibilities including hiring, disciplining, training etc.

The successful incumbent will possess :

Management & Exempt Salary Grade 8
