ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Clinical Manager the Psychologist is responsible for the assessment diagnosis prevention and treatment of behavioural and mental disorders and dysfunctions; and the maintenance and enhancement of physical intellectual emotional social and interpersonal functioning (Psychologist Act 1991). Key responsibilities include direct psychological services to both individuals and groups.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education / Experience :

  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario
  • Experience in the provision of brief and moderate term psychological intervention including group and individual psychotherapy and behaviour management techniques with adults with serious mental health and / or addiction issues
  • Experience in a variety of evidence-based treatment approaches with adults is preferred
  • Experience in research program evaluation and knowledge transfer preferred
  • Experience providing supervision to non-registered staff and / or students is preferred
  • Experience working within an interprofessional team setting with the ability to work collaboratively as a team player with excellent relationship building interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

Skills / Abilities :

  • Knowledge of Decision guide / Shared Decision making model of care motivational interviewing and strengths based approaches to care
  • Knowledge and experience with the development execution and evaluation of treatment plans utilizing SMART goals
  • Skill / experience in the administration and interpretation of psychometric tests
  • Understanding of relevant legislation (Mental Health Act Health Care Consent Act and PHIPA)
  • Knowledge of the Strategic Priorities of SJCG and Mental Health Outpatient Programs
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver's license adequate insurance and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work and adherence to the SJCG Principles of Conduct

    • Conditions of Employment :

  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
