The Office of the Dean provides leadership and support to the Faculty of Science’s eight academic departments and six core facilities. It is responsible for strategic planning, resource stewardship, and operational oversight, while advancing excellence in research, teaching, and student recruitment and retention. The Office also supports governance processes and fosters collaboration across the Faculty to ensure a strong, sustainable academic and research environment.

About the Role

The Associate Research Grants Facilitator assists in the preparation of research grant applications to Canadian and international funding agencies, private foundations and industry. The role is responsible for interpreting and understanding the research interests and priorities of individuals and groups working within the Faculty of Science, identifying funding sources for research grants, monitoring funding initiatives, and providing advice and assistance to faculty preparing funding applications, including the writing and reviewing of grant applications and coordinating research proposals. The Associate Research Grants Facilitator is able to summarize a diverse set of research activities and metrics to support the promotion of research activities.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, qualities or core competencies needed to be successful in the role:

  • Enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Is known for their attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Is comfortable managing multiple deadlines.
  • Has flexibility to work longer hours during busy times.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Science or a related discipline and three years of directly related experience, including the development, writing, editing and review of successful research papers and research grant proposals, data collection/management and analysis; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Excellence in collaborative scientific writing (primary literature, grant proposals) for a variety of audiences.
  • Understanding of the research funding landscape in Canada.
  • Familiarity with disciplinary norms in scientific methods and writing.
