Job description

The Class 1 Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of wood residual fibre products throughout the Kootenays and surrounding regions. This role operates Super B and Quad configurations, conducts vehicle inspections, secures and transports loads, completes electronic logging and compliance requirements, and ensures equipment is maintained to the highest standards. Success in this position requires a strong commitment to safety, professionalism, equipment care, and reliable customer service.

Compensation & Schedule

Super Bs: $33.37/hour and Quads: $32.31/hour per hour (trip rate based on cycle time)

Drivers are paid in accordance with the applicable rate for this position. Additional premiums, allowances, and benefits may apply.

Schedule: Monday to Friday with rotating day and night shifts, allowing you to be home daily. Additional weekend work may be available based on operational requirements.

Additional Compensation: Overtime pay after 60 hours, paid chain-up and wait time

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre and post trip inspections on equipment operated, ensuring safety, road worthiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Load and unload wood residual fibre products in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensure safe transportation of freight by securing goods while loading and unloading.
  • Tarp vehicle using manual or auto tarps as available.
  • Chain-up vehicle based on road conditions.
  • Complete all electronic records regarding working hours, vehicle status and maintenance records using the industry's best fleet management system, ISAAC.
  • Ensure trucks are left clean and safe at the end of each shift.

Qualifications

  • Class 1 Driver's License
  • Willingness to do rotational shift work
  • Two years of trucking experience preferred
  • Mountain driving and Super-B experience preferred
  • Acceptable commercial driver's abstract, based on Sutco's abstract review policy
  • Ability to pass pre-employment Drug & Alcohol Testing
