Job Description

Job Summary

Material handlers support production and distribution by receiving, moving, and staging goods. The role requires attention to inventory control, safe handling practices, and basic equipment operation.

Number of Positions

9

Main Duties

  • Receive, unload and inspect incoming shipments, verify quantities and report discrepancies.
  • Move, stage and store materials within production or warehouse areas using manual handling and mechanical aids.
  • Pick, pack and prepare orders for shipment, including labeling, documentation and staging for dispatch.
  • Conduct inventory and cycle counts, update records, and assist with stock reconciliation.
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles and coordinate with shipping and receiving to meet schedules.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, following health, safety and quality procedures.

Requirements

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent; relevant training or courses in warehousing is an asset.
  • Previous experience in material handling, warehouse, distribution or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills; experience with handheld scanners or inventory systems is an asset.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and to adhere to workplace health and safety procedures.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality and flexibility to work varying shifts or overtime as required.

Required Skills

  • Physical stamina and safe manual handling techniques.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in order picking and inventory tasks.
  • Basic computer literacy and data entry skills for inventory systems.
  • Time management and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear communication and teamwork to coordinate with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices and procedures.
