Engineer Jobs in Mercier, QC

Our client, a manufacturer of container chassis, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer.

• Design and modify mechanical parts, assemblies and welded steel structures using SolidWorks;
• Produce 3D models and complete manufacturing drawings;
• Design for manufacturability, assembly, welding, finishing, cost and safety;
• Design for sheet metal, laser cutting, bending, machining, welding and steel fabrication;
• Understand manufacturing-process capabilities and limitations;
• Perform mechanical/structural calculations and FEA;
• Assess stresses, deformation, safety factors and fatigue;
• Identify design weaknesses and recommend improvements;
• Go onto the production floor to troubleshoot design/manufacturing problems;
• Work directly with welders, machinists, assemblers and production teams;
• Perform root-cause analysis and improve existing products/processes.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, member of the OIQ;
• At least 3 years of experience in mechanical design and/or metal fabrication experience;
• Strong 2D/3D CAD skills - SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD or equivalent;
• Strong knowledge of welded structures, steel, sheet metal, laser cutting, bending and welding;
• Ability to create/read manufacturing drawings and apply GD&T/tolerancing;
• Knowledge of welding symbols/standards;
• Experience with FEA, stresses, deformation and fatigue;
• Access to a vehicle (10% travel);
• Bilingual (clients outside of Quebec).
