LOCATION
Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH is a vibrant community hospital delivering a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Directly serving a growing population of more than 60,000 residents spread across a mix of urban and rural settings, NHH directly employs approximately 750 people and relies on the additional support provided by a highly engaged and supportive network of physicians, midwives and volunteers.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director of Plant Operations & Maintenance, the 4th Class Operating Engineer operates and maintains boilers and related mechanical equipment. As a fourth-class engineer, you will be responsible for most repairs to boilers and physical plant equipment, as well as preventative maintenance on facility equipment.
This role may be eligible for a referral or relocation incentive.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Must be licensed and hold a 4th Class Operating Engineer designation in the Province of Ontario (or willing to obtain).
- Must have a thorough understanding of all HVAC services a - with either a Gas, Oil Refrigeration, Building Systems or Plumbers certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to maintain all building systems including mechanical, electrical and building automation (BAS).
- Applicants must have demonstrated excellent mechanical aptitude and have the ability to troubleshoot and prioritize steps to resolve and repair issues.
- Must have working knowledge of WHMIS legislation and Ontario Fire, Building and Electrical codes.
- Time management and organizational skills are required.
- When on-call must be able to report to the hospital within 20 minutes.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Successful applicants are required provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.
Additionally, to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
