Job description

Our valued professional services client is seeking a Junior Software Developer to assist in the maintenance of a public safety application!

Initial 1-year contract opportunity in Ottawa, ON (Remote - however local candidates preferred). The successful candidate must be eligible for a RCMP Secret Clearance, which has a 10 year minimum residency requirement in Canada. 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday.

As the selected candidate, you will support the development, testing, and maintenance of new features being used for police informatics systems across Canada.

This contract has a budgeted hourly rate of $28.00/hr (T4).

Responsibilities:

  • Write code for new features and enhancements.
  • Compile/Debug applications/programs.
  • Develop test programs.
  • Perform software tests.
  • Compile information for and write portions of technical reports and program documentation.
  • Assist in low level design.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the existing code base

Must Have Skills:

  • Detailed knowledge of C# and .NET development approaches, including using .NET components with Microsoft Internet Information Service (IIS)
  • Experience working with Blazor or Razor
  • Detailed knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, XML, XSDs, and ASP.NET
  • Knowledge / experience with database technologies such as SQL, SQL server, Oracle, and Entity framework
  • Experience and knowledge of C++, and MFC
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio in a Team Foundation Server (TFS) environment, including source control
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Server / and Windows 10/11 development environments

Nice-to-have Skills:

  • Experience with code source control through Git
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting language
  • Experience in an agile development environment
  • Experience and knowledge of development practices in a secure environment.
