This term position is effective immediately and will end on or about August 31, 2025 and is due to term funding.In compliance with Board policies and procedures, this position is responsible for administering, assisting and providing information to all employees regarding long term disability, sick leave, disability management leaves, in compliance with Board policies and procedures and applicable collective agreements. Major Responsibilities : To provide information to employees regarding disability management, such as the Long Term Disability (LTD) application process, pension and life insurance waiver process, sick leave and return to work process. To inform, advise and guide employees regarding sick leave benefits and to provide depletion calculations. To investigate and rectify a variety of reports related to employee absences using Empath, IPPS and STAR. To update the HR reporting systems (i.e. Parklane, Trillium, Empath and IPPS) for employees on medical related leave of absence. To support the Early Intervention process for the board’s Disability Management program, provide applicable medical forms and resources to assist employees. To communicate with various disability management system partners, including Disability Case Managers, Labour Relations, Payroll Services, school staff, Plant Services, Recruitment & Retention, the Coordinator of Educational Assistants and external agencies. To advise and provide direction to the STAR Representatives and school administrative support staff with regards to absence coding. To provide assistance to members of the Disability Management Team and system leaders, with respect to sick leave entitlement / balances / processes / attendance reports. To process invoices related to requested medical documentation. To participate in and support the annual sick leave process. To perform other duties as assigned. Line of Responsibility : Responsible to the Associate Manager, Disability, WSIB & Attendance Support.Education, Experience, and Qualifications : A two year college diploma in human resources management or a related discipline is required, or equivalent as approved by the Board. Minimum two years human resources or related experience is required. Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, mathematical and computer skills are required. Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both within and outside the Board is required. Important Information for CUPE 1734 Members : LA.11.7 Those twelve (12) month employees filling vacancies as a result of their applying to a job posting are to remain twelve (12) months at their position. Ten (10) month employees are to remain in their position until the end of the school year. This requirement can be waived with permission from the Superintendent responsible for Human Resource Services. This does not prevent employees from applying for a position or from applying for a promotion during the twelve (12) month period. LA.7.4 Those transferred to positions not covered by this Agreement, will retain their seniority accumulated in the bargaining unit for a period of twelve (12) months, or up to twenty-four (24) months by mutual agreement of the parties, and if transferred back into the bargaining unit within the agreed upon period, they shall be credited with all previously accumulated seniority within CUPE 1734, provided that no bargaining unit employee who has completed his / her probationary period shall be displaced as a result of such transfer. Parties may jointly agree to extend past the 24 months upon mutual agreement between the Board, the Union and the Employee.
