• Job Description :
• Reporting to the Manager, you will be part of a busy department that provides the highest quality of cleanliness to all areas of the hospital. You will be required to work shifts to regularly keep assigned areas clean, sanitary, and aseptic by : scouring, scrubbing, mopping, polishing, using germicides, wet dusting and vacuuming. You will wash walls, ceilings, lights, vents, doors, windows and frames. You will use heavy scrubbing machines and carpet extractor during major cleaning. You will be responsible to set up and remove furniture for special events and for office moves. You will also be required to assist in ensuring that the department is clean, sanitary and in aseptic condition.
• Requirements :
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Demonstrates ability to read, write, speak and follow directions in English
• Demonstrates ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimum supervision
• Demonstrates good interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
• Physical capabilities to perform duties as outlined by the physical demands
• Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
• Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
• Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient / staff population and community
• Strong work ethic and commitment is required
• Demonstrated high standards of work outputs
• Highly punctual
• Demonstrated professionalism and reliability
• Asset :
• Previous cleaning experience in a Building Service or Health Care environment
• Knowledge of WHMIS
• Ability to speak another language
