Overview
Role and Facility Information – Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is one of two tertiary hospitals within Interior Health and the region’s main referral centre with approximately 400 beds and over 84,000 ED visits yearly. KGH hosts the Interior Heart & Surgical Centre (IHSC) and is a teaching centre for the Southern Medical Program affiliated with UBC and has an academic campus for the University of British Columbia Medical School. Kelowna is a four-season community with access to a range of lifestyle and outdoor activities.
Practice Details
Excellent opportunity for a Diagnostic Radiologist with fellowship training to join the team at Kelowna General Hospital (KGH). Fellowship training and / or experience in Cardiothoracic, Chest, MSK, Breast or Nuclear Medicine imaging is an asset, but not required. We currently have a mix of 16 diagnostic and interventional radiologists. At the hospital, we have 3 CT scanners, one MRI (expansion underway with 2 new MRI units coming), a brand new interventional fluoroscopy suite, digital mammography, and a PET scanner (located at adjacent BCCA). We are currently the only IHA site performing MRI-guided breast biopsies. At our 3 clinics, we perform X-ray, ultrasound, bone mineral density, and diagnostic mammography. Our procedural requirements for diagnostic radiologists are predominantly biopsies and drainages. All vascular intervention, nephrostomy tubes, and complex biliary work are handled by the IR team. Locum opportunities are available and encouraged. New graduates or experienced radiologists are welcome to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Perform X-ray, ultrasound, bone mineral density, and diagnostic mammography at the clinics.
- Conduct biopsies and drainages as part of diagnostic radiologyProcedural requirements are predominantly biopsies and drainages.
- Coordinate with Interventional Radiology (IR) for vascular interventions, nephrostomy tubes, and complex biliary procedures.
- Participate in MRI-guided breast biopsy activities (site-specific).
Qualifications
Compensation, Benefits and Incentives
Compensation Type : Fee-for-Service. Estimated remuneration is competitive. Benefits and incentives include relocation assistance ranging from $9,000 to $15,000 based on move location (with eligible receipts). Incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at the time of offer.
