Job description

Superintendent – Hotel Renovations & Rebuilds
Whistler, BC

MatchBox Consulting Group is hiring a Superintendent for a unique opportunity in Whistler, BC with a respected hospitality group that has been operating for over 30 years.

This is not a standard site role. You will be leading major upgrades, large-scale renovations, and full building rebuilds across hotel properties in one of Canada’s most iconic resort markets. The work is focused on modernizing guest spaces, improving functionality, and delivering high-quality projects that support a premium hospitality experience.

This is a strong fit for a Superintendent who enjoys complex renovation work, active sites, design-forward projects, and the challenge of delivering construction in a live hospitality environment.

The Role

As Superintendent, you will lead site operations from planning through completion, coordinating trades, managing schedules, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring each project is delivered with quality, efficiency, and attention to detail.

You will work closely with ownership, project managers, designers, consultants, and subcontractors to keep projects moving and solve issues quickly on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day site operations on large-scale hotel renovation and rebuild projects.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, site teams, and project stakeholders.
  • Maintain project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Oversee construction activities in active hospitality environments with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Review drawings, identify site issues, and work with project teams to resolve problems efficiently.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with building codes, safety standards, and project specifications.
  • Support a high standard of finish, functionality, and guest-focused design.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of construction industry experience, including 3+ years in a Site Superintendent role.
  • Strong experience leading renovation, rebuild, or tenant improvement projects.
  • Hotel, resort, hospitality, or live-environment renovation experience is a strong asset.
  • Strong ability to manage schedules, trades, budgets, site logistics, and project timelines.
  • Solid knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and renovation best practices.
  • Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is required.
  • CSO or equivalent safety certification is preferred.
  • Red Seal, PMP, or similar certification is an asset.
