The Controls Engineer / Technologist is responsible for designing, programming, and commissioning advanced control systems to meet client and project specifications. This is a full-cycle role where youll work on everything from design and programming to on-site commissioning, making it an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives on technically challenging and rewarding work.

Key Responsibilities

• Control System Design : Lead the design and layout of electrical control systems from concept to completion, ensuring they meet customer and project specifications.
• Electrical Design : Develop detailed electrical schematics and layouts using tools such as AutoCAD or EPLAN while adhering to relevant standards, including UL508a and ISO 13849.
• PLC Programming : Program and debug control logic for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), including Allen-Bradley, Siemens and Beckhoff systems, both from scratch and based on existing programs.
• HMI Programming : Design and program Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) to create intuitive, user-friendly interfaces tailored to client needs.
• Site Commissioning : Work as part of a team or independently oversee the commissioning of control systems at customer sites, ensuring seamless integration and optimal system performance.
• Functional Specifications : Draft detailed functional specifications that guide the design and implementation of control systems.
• Equipment Selection & Procurement : Evaluate and procure the necessary equipment for projects, ensuring functionality, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Shop Floor Collaboration : Work closely with shop technicians to address production challenges and implement effective solutions.
• Technical Guidance : Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality designs and programming.
• Process Compliance : Ensure compliance with Altecs processes, quality standards, and industry codes.
• Documentation & Reporting : Maintain clear documentation for all control system designs, software programs, and installation procedures.
• Continuous Improvement : Contribute to the refinement of engineering processes to enhance efficiency and product quality.
