About Us
At 4AG Robotics, we’re wired for solving tough problems - and mushroom harvesting with robots is about as tough as it gets. We solve the critical labour shortage for farms by building robots that pick, trim and pack mushrooms.
We are a team of builders that like to move fast and embrace the uncertain process of innovation - because every breakthrough comes with a few mistakes along the way. Our robots are already working on six of the world’s largest mushroom farms - and this is just the beginning.
If you love tech, thrive on innovation, and have a passion for building and bringing it to life in the real world in a commercial space, you’ll find your spot here. Join us and help reshape the future of farming with grit, brains, and a team that actually gets things done.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Controls Electrical Engineer who will take ownership of the industrial electrical backbone of our robots. As our technology moves from prototypes into scaled production, this role ensures our machines meet rigorous safety and reliability standards while being designed for efficient manufacturing and serviceability.
This is a unique opportunity to design control panels and electrical systems for cutting-edge robotic harvesters that are already transforming agriculture. You’ll bring strong expertise in electrical codes, schematics, and component selection to build systems that don’t just work in the lab—they perform reliably in real farm environments.
Your work will directly enable the safe and scalable deployment of robots that solve critical labor challenges and drive a more sustainable food future.
What You'll Do
- Design and detail electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts for robotic machinery.
- Lead the design and build of industrial control panels, ensuring compliance with CSA, UL, CE, and other applicable electrical codes and standards.
- Select and specify components (breakers, relays, servo drives, sensors, safety devices, etc.) appropriate for industrial environments.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing and suppliers to optimize panel design for build efficiency and serviceability.
- Work with customers and contractors to ensure smooth installation and integration of robotic equipment in their facilities.
- Perform hands-on panel building, wiring, and testing when needed.
- Support PLC / HMI integration with hardware and ensure proper communication between devices.
- Create and maintain electrical documentation and BOMs for production.
- Participate in risk assessments and ensure machine safety compliance.
- Provide troubleshooting and support during machine builds, installations, and field deployment (occasional travel required).
What Success Looks Like
What You Bring
Why This Role Matters
Our robots can only succeed if they’re built on a foundation of safe, compliant, and reliable electrical systems. This role ensures that the foundation is rock-solid. By bringing industrial electrical expertise to our team, you’ll help us move faster from prototypes to scalable production and ensure our robots deliver in the demanding environments of commercial farms.
Benefits
What We Believe
If you’re the type who likes to take chances, move at speed, and see your ideas come to life, you’ll feel right at home here. At 4AG, we’re not big on rules for the sake of rules - we’d rather trust you to make bold calls, keep it real with your team, and turn imagination into something game-changing. This isn’t a place to play it safe; it’s a place to build, break, fix, and build again - while having a great time doing it.
