Working Business Language : English. This role is considered a head-office role and will be required to communicate with internal and external stakeholders across Canada where the primary business language for this role is English. As such, the successful candidate must be fully proficient in English.
Salary : At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to : your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range : $60,000- $80.000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview
Under minimal supervision and direction, the Senior Contract Specialist is responsible for collaborating with internal Legal, Compliance, Claims and Product teams, among others, to properly maintain and update group insurance contracts, booklets and agreements to ensure insurance provisions are communicated to Plan Sponsors in a clear and accurate manner.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the ongoing review and improvement of Wawanesa Life Group contract templates, standards, guidelines and processes.
- Manage the end-to-end process of contract / booklet drafting and review, department training, and liaising with the group underwriting department to reflect changes issued in amendment requests.
- Prepare complex contracts and booklets based on new group applications, draft new contract wording and provide interpretation of wording as required.
- Conduct research and stay abreast of industry and legislative developments to ensure currency and compliance, and to provide recommendations for contract wording.
- Maintain contract and booklet wording updates and communicate changes internally and to Sales team
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to draft new contract wording when required.
- Act as a subject matter expert for insurance policies, processes, regulations, and audit
- Mentor less experienced team members and plan and present training material and sessions
- Support the development and implementation of business change.
- Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external parties.
- Influence team members in a positive manner and provide short term direction effectively working towards team goals.
- Work effectively towards the department Key performance indicator (KPI) goals of the team.
- Participate in work reviews for quality assurance purposes.
- Work with the team and Supervisor to maintain existing documentation so that it reflects up to date and proper information
- Maintain active tasks on Sharepoint according to company service standards.
- Provide training to other members of the team, assisting in the development of documentation and training on contracts.
- Contributes towards projects or initiatives related to group contracts or booklets as a subject matter expert.
- Conduct research and stay abreast of industry and legislative developments to ensure Wawanesa is following best practices and is in compliance, providing recommendations for improvements and / or adjustments as required.
- Respond to inquiries from other departments and branch offices, working with internal and external customers to complete requests in a productive and courteous manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
