Position Summary
The Social Media Specialist is a creative storyteller who will strategically develop and implement a social media strategy to increase online presence and improve brand awareness for the firm. You will play a crucial role in telling our story and growing our passionate social media community.
This role sits within a highly collaborative communications team and reports directly to the Senior Manager, Corporate Relations and works alongside the Digital Content Producer; duties include defining and developing social media programs, identifying and utilizing the latest social media trends to optimize algorithms, target and engage our online audiences through paid and organic strategies, and contribute to the greater marketing plan. The Social Media Specialist is responsible for publishing content across multiple online platforms to effectively engage our online community and attract new followers.
This role will be a 14–16-month contract and will operate on a hybrid working model based in Vancouver, BC.
As a Social Media Specialist, your key responsibilities will involve :
There are three key elements to this role : Content Planning, Content Creation and Community Management.
Content Planning
- In collaboration with the Corporate Relations and Communications Team, develop and implement a content strategy and calendar.
- Understand the Nicola Wealth brand and how it must be represented in digital contexts.
- Plan and storyboard digital content for short videos and static posts based on defined KPIs.
- Setting up an organized content calendar for the internal team and clients to reference.
- Maintain a knowledge of social media content specifications for, but not limited to, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter.
- Work with the team to analyze performance statistics on a weekly and monthly basis to figure out what’s working and what’s not working to refine content strategies.
- Plan paid social media marketing strategies.
- Collaborate with Field Marketing Team / Sponsorships to execute social media takeovers and partnerships with external stakeholders.
Content Creation
Produce short form REEL videos for Instagram – content shot by phone personally or sent from various marketing members who attend galas, events, or other charitable spaces.Publish visual content that motivates, inspires, educates, informs, and engages audiences across a variety of digital platforms.Work closely with the Digital Content Producer and Compliance Team to ensure written content aligns with Nicola Wealth and the financial services industry.Working in collaboration with the Brand Team to create on-brand static and animated visuals for social media and other digital purposes.Ability to capture and edit photos for social media, and field marketing assets.Sourcing user generated content online for reposting / sharing.Maintaining all social assets in an organized manner.Hootsuite Amplify : Create creative content and copy for internal employee's personal social media pages.Create captions for paid social media marketing strategies with help from the Corporate Relations Team.Community Management and Engagement
Monitor / manage social media accounts and YouTube page for activity and engage with followers on accounts.Proactively engaging within each social media community to drive engagement and following.Setting, achieving, and reporting on community engagement, KPI’s, and growth goals for each social media account, YouTube page, and podcast.Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Real Estate, Private Capital, Advisory Services, Women’s Lead, People & Culture, Blackwood) to elevate their social media knowledge and content.As a Social Media Specialist, your skills and qualifications will include :
3-5 years related experience.Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing or communications.An equivalent combination of education and / or experience may be considered.Proven results and demonstrated experience in social media and content marketing.Proficiency in the principles, concepts, practices, techniques and tools in the areas of marketing, communications, journalism, and program management.Previous experience with Canva, Photoshop, and social media editing applications.Detail orientated.Have a deep understanding of social channels and communicating with audiences through different mediums.Experience with social media scheduling & monitoring tools, e.g. Hootsuite.Hands-on experience with a wide range of platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.Excellent organizational skills and a track record of delivering on time.Work well both independently and collaborating within a team.Excellent time management skills.Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.Success Factors :
