Job description
We’re seeking a Business Development Manager to join a well‑established General Contractor specializing in commercial, industrial, and design‑build construction in the Edmonton market. This is a client‑facing, opportunity‑driven role focused on early‑stage project development, relationship building, and converting opportunities from concept through award.

What We Offer

  • Job Type: Full‑time, Permanent
  • Benefits & Perks: Commission Program (3% of realized profit), Company Vehicle, RRSP Employer Match Program, Earned Day Off Program (every 4th Friday off), 3 Weeks Vacation, Paid Christmas Break, Comprehensive Medical & Dental Benefits

What You’ll Do
  • Build and strengthen relationships with new and existing clients across commercial, industrial, and design‑build markets.
  • Lead early‑stage project discussions including feasibility, budgeting expectations, delivery strategy, site considerations, and scope definition.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective clients, ensuring client needs are accurately captured and communicated internally.
  • Collaborate closely with estimating to prepare conceptual budgets, preliminary schedules, proposals, and technical submissions.
  • Lead and coordinate responses to RFIs and RFPs, developing compelling value propositions and delivery strategies.
  • Support early design coordination through constructability reviews and alignment between client intent and technical requirements.
  • Identify upcoming project opportunities and maintain market visibility through industry events, networking, and site visits.
  • Maintain CRM data including pipeline activity, bid tracking, client touchpoints, and opportunity status.
  • Coordinate with estimating, design, and operations teams to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and client deliverables.
  • Participate in internal project handovers to support smooth transitions from project development into execution.
  • Prepare monthly forecasts and provide leadership with pipeline updates, client insights, and market intelligence.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry associations, presentations, and client meetings.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to proposals, marketing materials, and overall client experience.

What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience in construction business development, pre‑construction, project coordination, or client‑facing roles with a General Contractor.
  • Strong understanding of commercial and/or industrial construction methodologies, drawings, and delivery models.
  • Established relationships within commercial, industrial, or design‑build markets considered a strong asset.
  • Post‑secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or Business/Commerce preferred.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to translate client needs into technical requirements and collaborate effectively with internal teams.
  • Highly organized, self‑motivated professional capable of managing multiple active opportunities independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license and clean abstract.
  • Ability to travel within Alberta and Saskatchewan as required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug and alcohol test.
