Job descriptionGrade 12 or equivalent. Fifth Class Engineer’s Certificate and Refrigeration Engineer’s Certificate (assigned by the Saskatchewan Department of Labour), or equivalent credentials; preference for Fourth Class Engineer’s Certificate. Minimum three years’ experience as a Building Operator. Level 1 and 2 Occupational Health & Safety training. Strong diagnostic skills for mechanical, electrical, fire protection alarm, and sprinkler systems. Ability to develop and carry out preventive maintenance programs. Strong interpersonal, communication, customer‑service, problem‑solving, decision‑making, organizational, and time‑management skills. Physical ability to perform all duties required for the role.

Position Summary

BUILDING OPERATOR 4
Saskatoon Public Schools invites applications for a Building Operator 4 position. Under the direction of the Manager of Operations, the Building Operator 4 ensures the Mount Royal building and campus (including the heating and cooling plant, mechanical and electrical systems) are maintained and operated to provide a safe, clean, learning and working environment that is kept in a comfortable and presentable condition. The Building Operator 4 will act as a lead hand in organizing the daily and seasonal work of caretaking staff and as the school division’s representative in dealing with partners and tenants at the site.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and operate the building’s heating, cooling, mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and presentable learning and working environment.
- Lead and coordinate daily and seasonal caretaking activities for staff.
- Liaise with partners and tenants on campus.
- Utilize email, process maintenance requisitions, supply orders, and staffing assignments.
- Operate the energy management system (schedule, adjust set‑points, diagnose heating, cooling and ventilation issues).
