Job description

Venor is proud to partner with Waldale Manufacturing in their search for a Senior Software Developer. The largest private manufacturer of licence plates in North America, Waldale was established in 1949 and serves 23 State and Provincial jurisdictions worldwide. From their main facility in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Waldale services the Motor Vehicle Industry with licence plate manufacturing and related fulfillment, distribution, deliver-on-demand, warehousing, and registration services. Now, in the midst of continued evolution, Waldale is adding to its growing software development team in the midst of building a bespoke software solution for motor vehicle registries across North America.

What you’ll be doing:

Reporting to the IT Director, the Senior Software Developer will lead the creation of high-quality, efficient, and scalable software solutions. They are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining web applications and services, ensuring seamless integration with databases and other components. They are also responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining web applications using C# .NET Core, Angular, and TSQL
  • Designing and implementing RESTful APIs using .NET Core for backend services
  • Developing and optimizing TSQL queries, stored procedures, and functions for optimal performance and data integrity
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features and enhancements
  • Participating in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, and development
  • Writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, adhering to established coding standards and best practices
  • Debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving defects and issues in a timely manner
  • Collaborating with the QA team to ensure proper testing and validation of developed features
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to team members

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in full stack development, with a strong focus on C#, .NET Core, Angular, and TSQL
  • Proficient in front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and TypeScript (preferred)
  • College degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field an asset
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programing principles and design patterns
  • Experience with Entity Framework Core or other ORM tools
  • Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
