About the role
Director, Reinsurance Finance
At Intact, our reinsurance engine is a quiet force behind resilience, protecting our balance sheet, enabling growth, and turning volatility into opportunity. As Director, Reinsurance Finance, you will be the architect of financial clarity and consistency across our Finance Group reinsurance activities, the steward of our control environment, and a catalyst for transformation.
Reinsurance is central to how Intact manages risk and unlocks growth. This role is fundamental to provide sharper insights, bringing together reporting excellence, control strength, and transformation delivery. If you thrive at the intersection of finance, operations, and change, this is a chance to shape how a leading insurer stewards risk, capital, and performance for years to come.
You’ll lead a capable finance team and work closely with Corporate Reinsurance, with the Operation teams, with various Finance teams, with the external auditors to name a few. You’ll also partner with regional leaders to harmonize practices and ensure a consistent view of performance across the organisation.
What success looks like in year one:
You establish a single source of truth for reinsurance financials bringing additional consistency to reporting across regions, sharpening profitability insights, and elevating our monthly close.
You modernize how we streamline processes and controls, improving data availability, and laying the foundation for analytics that inform real decisions in real time.
You become the connective tissue bridging Finance, Corporate Reinsurance, Operations, to name a few, ensuring alignment on priorities, accountability on deliverables, and momentum on the transformation roadmap.
Where you’ll make an impact
Own the reinsurance financial narrative:
Lead the month-end close for Finance Reinsurance and oversee quarterly regulatory reporting.
Bring discipline and insight to profitability, receivables and payables, and intercompany flows turning numbers into actionable direction for leadership.
Prepare executive-ready financial reports; ensure clarity, accuracy, and timeliness.
Build a resilient control environment:
Maintain and continuously improve internal controls across our reinsurance processes, including reconciliations and collateral management.
Partner with internal and external auditors; anticipate issues, close gaps, and champion best practices.
Lead transformation, not just transactions:
Be a key stakeholder in strategic initiatives systems upgrades, process enhancements, acquisition integrations, and the standardization of new accounting standards.
Drive the project roadmap for group reinsurance aligning regions, harmonizing practices, and elevating data quality for monthly reporting and analysis.
Elevate how we plan and perform:
Contribute to financial systems strategy and priorities; reduce friction, increase transparency, and build for scale.
Prepare and manage the operating budget for your team; ensure resources are aligned to outcomes.
Guide succession, performance, and development—coaching a high-performing team that ships improvements, not just maintains processes.
What you bring to the table
Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA).
Financial industry experience.
A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in accounting, IFRS accounting standards and finance.
Exceptional communicator who builds strong relationships across all levels and with external stakeholders.
Strong and passionate leadership skills.
Disciplined, detail-oriented analyst who works independently, takes responsibility, and performs reliably under pressure.
Bilingual (French and English) Need to interact on a regular basis with an English-speaking clientele and colleagues across the
country.
