Job description

This is where you save and sustain lives

At Baxter, we are deeply connected by our mission. No matter your role at Baxter, your work makes a positive impact on people around the world. You'll feel a sense of purpose throughout the organization, as we know our work improves outcomes for millions of patients.

Baxter's products and therapies are found in almost every hospital worldwide, in clinics and in the home. For over 85 years, we have pioneered significant medical innovations that transform healthcare.

Together, we create a place where we are happy, successful and inspire each other. This is where you can do your best work.

Join us at the intersection of saving and sustaining lives—where your purpose accelerates our mission.

Your Role at Baxter

The Clinical Outcomes Specialist (COS) role supports both our hospital customers as well as our sales team. This role provides both clinical and product education with a focus on helping our customers improve patient care, outcomes, and clinical workflow. This position requires flexibility, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and to collaborate with team members to ensure customer happiness. This role requires weekly travel to hospitals located in the territory three to four days a week including some overnight travel, approximately 50% per quarter, depending on projects and the COS’s home base. Some evening / early morning training or in-services and participation in weekend conferences could also be required in the territory.

Your Team

We're a friendly, collaborative group of people who push each other to do better every day. We find unique strategies to close deals and expand our skills by challenging ourselves and others. Whether out in the field with a partner or tackling challenges with your territory team, you always have camaraderie and support to help accomplish your goals. You will report to the Regional Sales Director – Western Canada.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide product education through planned evaluations and implementations including both onsite at the hospital as well as virtually.
  • Collaborate with clinical customers on how to best integrate the use of our products into clinical protocols to reduce adverse patient events like patient deterioration, falls, and pressure injuries.
  • The role is predominantly focused on our PSS (Beds and stretchers) and FLC (vital signs monitors) product portfolios. Additional ancillary support for our GSS portfolio (surgical tables) is also in scope.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of annual Baxter clinical studies focused on patient falls, pressure injuries, and deterioration with customers. This includes collecting and analyzing the data captured, preparing, developing and leading a Power Point presentation that summarizes the findings and results to key clinical leaders including Professional Practice, Quality Teams, Educators, Directors of clinical programs and VP’s responsible for patient care.
  • Work closely with the Regional Director, Account Managers, and other team members to develop and execute on account plans and sales strategies in order to meet annual and quarterly sales targets.
  • Record activities and contracts within sales software applications (Salesforce.com) and assure that all information remains current and provides enough detail to be useful to other team members.
  • Travel as the need arises (up 50% of the time).

What you'll bring

  • Allied Health Designation : degree, diploma or equivalent required (Nursing or Allied Health). Registered Nursing designation (RN) is preferred.
  • Allied Health includes Physio Therapist, Occupational Therapy, or Respiratory Therapist.
  • At least two years of nursing experience at an acute care hospital (ICU, Medical / Surgical Floors).
  • Experience working in professional practice, clinical informatics or as a clinical educator is preferred.
  • Strong collaboration, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate (basic working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Previous medical device experience preferred.
