Job Title : Peer Support and Outreach Coordinator
Department : Student Success Services – Mental Health & Wellbeing / CARES Peer Support Program
Location : Commerce Court Campus – North Bay, ON
Status : Temporary Part-Time
Contract Duration : January 2026 – March 31, 2026
Hours Per Week : Up to 24 hrs / week
Pay Rate : $32.09 / hour

The Peer Support & Outreach Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and day‑to‑day oversight of the CARES (Campus Allies for Resilience, Empowerment and Support) Peer Support Program. This role supports student mental health, well‑being, belonging, and connection through trauma‑informed, non‑clinical peer‑based support and proactive outreach initiatives.
The Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, mentoring, and supervising Peer Supporters, coordinating campus‑wide outreach and psychoeducational programming, and strengthening referral pathways to campus and community supports. The role works closely with Mental Health & Wellbeing staff, Accessible Learning Services, Student Success teams, and community partners to ensure peer support is safe, ethical, inclusive, and aligned with college policies and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Minimum two‑year diploma in a relevant health or human services program including Social Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker / Child and Youth Care, Mental Health & Addictions Worker, Social Worker (B.S.W.) or equivalent human services degree.
- Ontario Peer Development Initiative (OPDI) Certification or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent work experience providing student peer support or client peer support services, preferably in an educational environment.
- Experience mentoring peer supporters preferred.
- Experience planning and hosting awareness, prevention, and maintenance events on topics related to student mental health & well‑being.
- Demonstrated understanding of referral pathways, leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to reliably commute daily and / or relocate to North Bay, ON.
