Job description
Reporting to the Chief Communications and Engagement Officer, the Social Media Student provides digital and creative support to the Corporate Communications Division. The student will create and manage social media content, support the development of marketing strategies, and help grow brand awareness for the City of Welland.
Create and post on our social media page(s).
Generate brand awareness.
Audit and review existing channels and recommend changes
Create innovative ideas for branding/marketing.
Work with internal partners on new collaborations and partnerships.
Keep up to date with emerging social media trends and adapt to boost traffic.
Maintain consistency in posting schedule and voice.
Utilize social media analytics to determine audience reach.
Other tasks as deemed necessary.
Knowledge and experience with content creation (writing posts, captions, blogs)
Familiar with graphic design platforms (Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator)
Video editing skills (CapCut, Premiere Pro, Final Cut)
Working knowledge and experience with platform management (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn)
Experience with scheduling tools (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite)
Ability to use different types of analytics (Google Analytics, native platform insights, Sprout)
SEO & hashtag strategy
Excellent community management and customer engagement
Working knowledge of paid advertising basics (Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads)
Experience with trend tracking & social listening tools

What you need to Succeed...
