Job Summary
The Team
The Interior East Kootenay Youth Justice team is a dedicated and evolving group of experienced Youth Probation Officers committed to supporting youth and their families. With staff members based in Williams Lake, Cranbrook, Merritt, and Kamloops, this team collaborates closely with Crown Counsel, RCMP, court staff, social workers, and various community partners, including Indigenous communities and First Nation Court elders. Since 2023, the team has grown in both size and expertise, demonstrating a strong commitment to making a positive impact. They value dedication to youth and families, as well as mutual support and teamwork, including fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment.
The Role
Your work as a Youth Probation Officer will directly impact the lives of young people in the East Kootenays. In this role, you will collaborate with community partners to provide comprehensive support to youth and their families. You will support youth in adhering to their conditions while promoting community safety and rehabilitation. You will have an opportunity to make a tangible difference, striving to meet the needs of youth and reduce the risk of re-offending through innovative programs. This position will inspire you to advocate for young offenders, helping them accept responsibility for their actions and arranging essential resources and programs.

NOTE : If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). About this Position :
This position is located in Cranbrook and is required to travel to other locations in the East Kootenays.
Flexible work options are available, this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
