Job description

Job Title: Business Analyst – Capital Markets
Location: Montreal, QC
Duration: 6 Months

Position Overview

A leading financial services organization is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Business Analyst with strong experience in Investment Banking Operations, particularly in Loan Operations and/or Securities Lending. This role will support large-scale capital markets and trading initiatives, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements, regulatory compliance, and system enhancements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to Loan Operations and Securities Lending.
  • Act as a liaison between Operations, Technology, Risk, and Front Office teams.
  • Support end-to-end trade lifecycle processes, including settlement, reconciliation, and collateral management.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Assist with UAT planning, test case development, and execution.
  • Support regulatory, audit, and reporting requirements.
  • Perform data analysis to support decision-making and issue resolution.
  • Participate in full project lifecycle from initiation through implementation.
  • Collaborate with global stakeholders across multiple time zones.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in Investment Banking / Capital Markets Operations.
  • Strong domain expertise in Loan Operations and/or Securities Lending.
  • Experience with trade lifecycle processes, including collateral management and settlement.
  • Solid understanding of financial instruments (loans, repos, equities lending preferred).
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong documentation skills (BRD, FRD, user stories, process flows).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with global or Tier 1 banking institutions.
  • Exposure to regulatory frameworks related to securities financing or lending markets.
  • Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and advanced Excel.
  • Experience supporting system migrations or platform upgrades.
  • SQL or data analysis experience (preferred).
Soft Skills
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in global banking environments is highly valued.
