Friends of Ruby is dedicated to supporting the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA youth aged 16-29 through mental health services social programs and housing. We operate a Youth Drop-In Centre offering barrier-free counselling hot meals and community programming and a Transitional Home providing emergency and long-term housing with life-skills support.

About the Role

As a Case Manager

you will be responsible for :

  • Comprehensive Youth-Centered Case Planning and Support : Conduct thorough assessments and collaborate with youth to develop and revise individualized care plans addressing their diverse needssuch as housing employment mental health and immigrationusing a strengths-based anti-oppressive and harm reduction approach.
  • Integrated Service Coordination and Advocacy : Coordinate interdisciplinary services and referrals facilitate life-skills programming and work collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure wrap-around support crisis intervention and long-term stability for 2SLGBTQIA youth.
  • Collaborative Care and Advocacy : Build strong partnerships with community organizations and service providers through consultations case conferences and advocacy to ensure youth receive coordinated comprehensive care tailored to their unique needs.
  • Resource Navigation and Community Engagement : Actively research connect and refer youth to affirming community resources and supportsboth formal and informalto promote recovery enhance quality of life and support long-term well-being for 2SLGBTQIA youth.
  • Record-Keeping and Reporting Compliance : Maintain

accurate confidential clinical records and statistical data in line with legal ethical and organizational standards; prepare reports and support public health protocol implementation as .

  • Operational and Participant Support : Provide flexible day-to-day operational assistance including distributing resources supporting house activities and responding to participant needsto ensure smooth service delivery and a safe welcoming environment.
  • What You Bring

  • A degree inSocialWork psychologyor a related program and / or an equivalent combination of education / experience in the social servicessector.
  • E xperience providing case management to youth related to issues of homelessness mental health trauma transitioning and / or coming out substance use family support trauma abuse accessing legal / financial support housing employment andeducation.
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit 2SLGBTQIA community social justice environment and / or housing / shelter .
  • Ability to conduct crisis risk assessments and interventions and safety planning with the capacity to manage conflict crises and escalating situations with composure and confidence.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply anti-racist anti-oppressive decolonial and intersectional frameworks using harm reduction and client-centered approaches .
  • Skilled in coordinating interdisciplinary care with internal teams and community partners while navigating evolving needs researching resources and challenging colonial systems in service delivery.
  • Proven ability to build trust with youth through active listening cultural understanding and adaptive communication while advocating for their needs (housing legal healthcare) and centering autonomy and strengths.
