Position Information Job Title Sessional Instructor - Carpentry Appointment Type Sessional Position Dates Oct 2024 - Apr 2025 Hours per week / FTE Flexible About the Position The Centre for Trades is seeking a highly motivated, organized individual with excellent communication skills to instruct in our Carpentry Apprenticeship Program, 1st and 2nd periods, in a capacity of a sessional workload. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in ongoing curriculum development, instruction, and evaluation of student progress. Content follows Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Apprenticeship Course Outlines which can be researched at : www.tradesecrets.gov.ab.ca .
Sessional contract with possible extension.

- Develop lesson plans, and course materials
- Select, develop and implement appropriate instructional strategies
- Plan and prepare the physical or virtual learning environment
- Deliver classes
- Promote an effective and efficient learning environment
- Assess student performance in a valid and reliable manner
- Maintain and / or submit program / student records accurately and promptly
- Discuss with students career and employment objectives, in so far as such matters generally relate to the instruction being offered those students
- Be available to students to support learning through office hours, online, or as scheduled by the instructor in consultation with the student
- Attend and participate in meetings related to their employment with the college
- Participate in activities that enhance instructors overall effectiveness
- Promote the trade and the college to prospective students
