Position Information Job Title Sessional Instructor - Carpentry Appointment Type Sessional Position Dates Oct 2024 - Apr 2025 Hours per week / FTE Flexible About the Position The Centre for Trades is seeking a highly motivated, organized individual with excellent communication skills to instruct in our Carpentry Apprenticeship Program, 1st and 2nd periods, in a capacity of a sessional workload. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in ongoing curriculum development, instruction, and evaluation of student progress. - Develop lesson plans, and course materials
- Select, develop and implement appropriate instructional strategies
- Plan and prepare the physical or virtual learning environment
- Deliver classes
- Promote an effective and efficient learning environment
- Assess student performance in a valid and reliable manner
- Maintain and / or submit program / student records accurately and promptly
- Discuss with students career and employment objectives, in so far as such matters generally relate to the instruction being offered those students
- Be available to students to support learning through office hours, online, or as scheduled by the instructor in consultation with the student
- Attend and participate in meetings related to their employment with the college
- Participate in activities that enhance instructors overall effectiveness
- Promote the trade and the college to prospective students
