About Our Camp
Silver Lake is a traditional, overnight summer camp, situated on a 225 acre site overlooking a private lake, just outside Kincardine, ON. For more than 50 years, Silver Lake has been providing fun, caring and inspiring experiences for campers and staff alike. We offer programming for children ages 6-18, and host 60-70 campers per session. Our Mission at Silver Lake Camp is to share the joy of knowing Jesus Christ, making Christ central to all aspects of our programs, whether worship or play; seeking to set an example that embodies the value of personal faith in Christ, the importance of community, and commitment to God’s world.

About the Position
Position Overview
The Assistant Wilderness Director, alongside the Wilderness Director, is responsible for leading and supporting the Wilderness staff team and program. They will: train and assist the Wild Staff to ensure the highest standards for counseling; work to ensure all children are engaged in camp programming; and seek to promote the mental, emotional, and spiritual growth of each child. They also work with the Wilderness Director to develop and implement fun, creative, inclusive and safe programming for all Wilderness camps.
Our Wilderness Camp is a unique program that operates independently from the main camp, with 3 staff and a maximum of 18 campers per week. The focus is on outdoor survival skills, canoeing, and camping and includes two canoe trips during the summer. Staff share the responsibilities of cooking, counseling, and programming.
Dates of Employment
June 18, 2026 – August 31, 2026 (full-time; paid position; on-site accommodation provided)
Salary
$394/week
Position Requirements
- Minimum 18 years of age (by Dec. 31 of the year of employment).
- Experience in and enjoy working with children.
- Ability to work in a small team setting.
- A positive and flexible attitude.
- Must have strong leadership, initiative, organizational, and administrative skills.
- Must hold current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
- Safe Food Handling Certification is an asset (training to be provided otherwise).
- A valid G-class driver’s license is highly desirable.
- National Lifeguard certification is highly desirable.
- Previous camp experience is an asset, especially wilderness
camping
