As a Biomedical Equipment Technologist (BMET) II, you will provide assurance testing, maintenance and repair of complex medical, biomedical and electronic devices or systems.
Required Qualifications: Completion of a two year diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from an accredited Institute of Technology. Active or eligible for registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET).
Additional Required Qualifications: Perform preventative maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment, including, but not limited to, centrifuges, freezers, incubators, microscopes, mixers/rotators, pulmonary function machines, stainers, scales, BSC/Fume-hoods and water baths. Ensure codes, laws and regulations pertaining to medical and laboratory equipment are adhered to. Monitor and maintain compressed gasses piping systems. Perform annual safety checks on electrical equipment and instruments. Schedule annual maintenance and repairs of fume hoods, biological safety cabinets. Communicate positively with client departments regarding the need for repairs. Provide feedback to client department regarding status, cost, frequency and turnaround time of repairs. Demonstrate discretion and confidentiality in all circumstances. Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, technical departments & Patient Service Centre's. Monitor and record daily and weekly measurements and maintenance for deionized water and compressed gas systems. Ensure measuring devices used within the department are calibrated. Strong initiative, troubleshooting, prioritization, organizational skills and ability to work unsupervised. Flexibility to meet operational requirements including hours of work.
