About the Position:

At Univar Solutions, safety is more than a priority. It is a core value that guides everything we do.

As the Regional Health & Safety Manager, you will be a key leader in advancing our commitment to creating safe, healthy, and sustainable workplaces. In this highly visible role, you will partner with operations leaders across the region to drive continuous improvement, strengthen our safety culture, and ensure we maintain the highest standards of environmental, health, and safety performance.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to site leadership teams, champion proactive risk management initiatives, lead compliance and audit activities, and help shape the future of health and safety across our operations. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced EHS professional who is passionate about making a meaningful impact and influencing positive change.

Site Locations:

This position is primarily based in Abbotsford, BC, with responsibility for supporting operations across Abbotsford, Pitt Meadows, and North Vancouver.

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner with regional leadership to promote and strengthen a world-class safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations, as well as Univar Solutions standards and policies.
  • Act as a trusted resource for leaders, Joint Health & Safety Committees, and employees on all health and safety matters.
  • Lead and support EHS risk assessments, management systems, and certification programs, including ISO Standards and Responsible Distribution Canada.
  • Drive emergency preparedness initiatives and serve as the regional technical advisor for emergency response planning and ERAP activities.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning to prevent recurrence.
  • Deliver engaging health and safety training programs, including New Hire Orientation, TDG, WHMIS, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct EHS audits and partner with operations teams to implement sustainable solutions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor emerging regulatory requirements and industry best practices to ensure continued compliance and operational excellence.
  • Support other EHS initiatives and projects as needed.

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

  • 5+ years of health and safety leadership experience supporting multiple locations, preferably within the chemical, industrial, manufacturing, logistics, or related sectors.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
  • Experience leading audits, investigations, training programs, and compliance initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence, engage, and inspire teams at all levels of the organization.
  • Professional certifications such as CRSP or CSP are considered an asset.

Why Join Univar Solutions?

  • Make a direct impact on the safety and well-being of employees across multiple sites.
  • Join a company that genuinely prioritizes safety, sustainability, and operational excellence.
  • Access ongoing training, professional development, and career growth opportunities.
  • Benefit from mentorship and leadership support to help you reach your career goals.
  • Receive a competitive compensation package, including comprehensive medical, dental, extended health, and life insurance benefits.
  • Be part of an inclusive culture supported by Employee Resource Networks that foster diversity, equity, and belonging.

If you're passionate about creating safer workplaces and are looking for an opportunity to influence change, lead with purpose, and grow your career, we'd love to hear from you.
