What You’ll Be Doing
CIBC Innovation Banking provides strategic advice and funding to North American innovation clients at each stage of their business cycle, from start up to IPO and beyond. Innovation Banking clients include companies that typically operate in the Enterprise Software, Technology, Life Sciences and Health Care sectors of the economy. As a Director in our Origination team you will focus primarily on growing CIBC Innovation Banking’s market presence in the technology sector in this market. Your role will not be just to be a banker — you will be a partner, a true champion for our clients’ businesses, who will be committed to delivering on flexible business solutions, dedicated business expertise and timely business advice to help our clients realize their goals. How You’ll Succeed
Client First – Proactively assess your clients’ needs and propose solutions to deliver to meet those needs. Demonstrate expertise on market conditions, with the ability to integrate knowledge into credit structuring and execution, and effectively communicate to clients.
Relationship Building – Make an impact in your community, and show clients they’re appreciated by engaging in marketing and outreach activities. Develop a personal profile within the firm and assist in maintaining a high profile for the firm within and outside the technology community. Develop new client relationships through your business development activities leveraging referral sources, existing clients and centers of influence.
Credit Management – Perform preliminary credit assessment and due diligence.
Who You Are
You’re an experienced banking professional with significant experience in areas such as Technology Lending, Commercial Banking, Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, etc.
You have strong business acumen and are passionate about the technology sector. You can effectively differentiate CIBC Innovation Banking from the competition through quality of coverage, and service provided.
Your influence makes an impact. You know that relationships and networks are essential to success. In your career, you have demonstrated success in creating and maintaining good relationships with clients at senior levels. You are able to manage internal relationships within CIBC to coordinate and ensure the support of the firm’s internal resources where different priorities may exist.
Education – You have a Bachelors or equivalent degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field. Advanced business degrees or professional designations (MBA, CFA, CBV, CPA, CA etc.) are considered to be assets.
You’re driven to succeed. You are motivated by accomplishing your goals and delivering your best to make an impact.
