Job description
Job Description

A career in transportation goes way beyond concrete and steel. The work we do—planning, designing, and delivering projects that help people and goods move—shapes how communities and nations, grow and connect. Every road, bridge, airport, transit line, or port is a chance to build places that are safer, more sustainable, and ready for the future. The impact is real, and it’s global. If you’re looking for a career that’s always moving forward, you’ll fit right in with a team that’s passionate about what transportation can become. We help turn big ideas into airports that work smarter and better—while helping your career take off along the way.

CIMA+ is looking for a Senior Aviation Planner to join our team – someone that’s driven, curious, and confident in their problem-solving and communication skills. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys tackling complex challenges, is open to travel, and is excited about growing their career while contributing to business development efforts.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that includes planners, engineers, architects, environmental and Indigenous specialists, and support staff. You’ll play a key part in developing airport master plans, feasibility and economic studies, forecasting and air service development initiatives, and aviation training services. You’ll also support broader planning tasks as needed, gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of aviation projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review and interpret transportation data and complete aviation studies to support airport capacity planning, demand management, and operational decision-making.
  • Prepare airport master plans, land use concepts, terminal configurations, and zoning frameworks that support long-term, sustainable development.
  • Use industry-standard planning and design tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, CAST, and AviPlan to develop layouts and detailed technical drawings.
  • Complete aeronautical impact evaluations, weather-related analyses, and construction phasing and operations planning.
  • Develop proposals, technical memoranda, visual materials, and reports to clearly present analyses, findings, and recommendations.
  • Lead presentations and support public and stakeholder engagement activities, including consultation sessions.
  • Conduct research, collect data, and carry out fieldwork and stakeholder engagement to support airport planning initiatives and build strong working relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and airport authorities.
  • Produce clear, well-structured reports, presentations, and project deliverables for airport planning studies.
  • Provide technical guidance to planning and design teams, airport authorities, and airline clients, serving as a subject matter resource for airport operations.
  • Create aviation and airport-related training materials when required.
  • Assist the Aviation team with project pursuits, proposals, and broader business development efforts.
  • Stay informed on industry developments and emerging aviation trends, applying best practices to airport planning work.

Qualifications

  • A university degree in engineering, architecture, airport planning, air transport management, or a related field. Candidates with education in economics, sustainability, finance, or business disciplines will also be considered
  • 12+ years of relevant professional experience in one or more areas of airport planning, such as airfield and apron design, terminals, landside facilities, utilities, airspace, or operations, is strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to PowerBI or other data visualization and analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with simulation and modeling software related to airfield and terminal planning is considered beneficial.
  • A proactive attitude paired with a genuine eagerness to learn and continue developing professionally.
  • A collaborative, positive outlook and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and disciplines.
  • Strong analytical thinking with a structured, thoughtful approach to tackling complex challenges.
  • The confidence to take ownership of tasks and manage responsibilities independently and efficiently.
  • Flexibility and comfort working in agile environments, including a mix of in-person and remote collaboration.
  • Clear and effective verbal communication skills, supporting confident engagement with both clients and team members.
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail, with the ability to deliver precise technical drawings and well-crafted reports.
  • French language proficiency is preferred and will be considered a strong asset
  • Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence
