Job description:
We are currently seeking a Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager for our client, a leading organization operating within a precision manufacturing environment.
This is a key leadership role reporting to the Vice President of Innovation & Technology, responsible for driving quality excellence and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the organization. The successful candidate will lead quality strategy, oversee QA/QC operations, and implement Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance operational performance, reduce variability, and improve overall product quality.
POSITION OVERVIEWThe Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager is accountable for ensuring that all products and processes meet regulatory, customer, and internal requirements, while driving sustainable improvements across the business.
This role combines hands-on quality leadership with strategic continuous improvement, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term organizational performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESQuality Leadership- Lead the Quality function, including QA, QC, and Quality Engineering teams
- Establish and execute the strategic direction of the Quality department aligned with corporate objectives
- Oversee and enhance quality management systems and on-floor quality practices
- Collaborate with Plant Leadership to ensure alignment on process changes and quality expectations
- Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures across manufacturing operations
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, licensor, and customer requirements
Continuous Improvement- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across the organization
- Lead the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
- Drive process standardization, workflow optimization, and waste reduction
- Mentor and support internal Lean practitioners (Yellow/Green Belts)
- Utilize tools such as Root Cause Analysis, 5S, Kaizen, FMEA, and Value Stream Mapping to improve performance
- Develop and deliver training programs focused on process improvement and operational excellence
Leadership & Team Development- Lead, coach, and develop members of the Quality team
- Support recruitment, retention, and performance management initiatives
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance culture
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback
- Promote strong risk management practices through leadership and training
Cross-Functional & Strategic Leadership- Act as a key member of the Senior Management Team
- Partner with executive leadership to drive both short- and long-term strategic initiatives
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to improve performance and execution
- Monitor and report on key performance metrics, including quality, delivery, revenue, and margin
- Lead performance reviews and ensure action plans are implemented to address gaps
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng) or Professional Licensee (P.L. Eng); APEGA membership or eligibility required
- 15+ years of experience in QA/QC within a manufacturing or machining environment
- 10+ years of leadership experience managing teams and driving performance
- Formal training in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher preferred)
- ISO Auditor certification considered an asset
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and regulatory requirements
- Experience within oil & gas or related industries considered an asset
