We are currently looking for Visual Arts Instructors to lead programs for adults and children in a variety of art mediums.

You are a team player committed to community. You will plan and instruct art classes for adults and children. You will be working in a creative environment utilizing your leadership and people skills, developmentally plan appropriate activities while maintaining a safe environment to engage students to expand their interest in art. You are an excellent communicator with a positive, energetic and enthusiastic attitude.

SKILLS REQUIRED

• In-depth knowledge of techniques and processes in your art medium
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organizational and supervisory skills
• Proven ability to create and implement lesson plans
• Ability to build a rapport with students, parents of students, and staff
• Ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Candidates must have a degree or diploma in Visual Arts or 2 years of Visual Arts education and related experience. Some previous teaching experience will be considered an asset.All instructors working with children must have a current Standard First Aid certificate and HIGH FIVE : Principles of Healthy Child Development training (available online through BCRPA).All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a condition of employment. The pay for this casual position ranges between $24.96-$27.04 per hour, based on education and experience, plus 4% vacation pay. Hours may vary and instructors should be prepared to work days, evenings and / or weekends at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location.
