Job description
Position description

The Ron Joyce Centre for Business Studies/Commerce Department at Mount Allison University invites applications for a part-time stipendiary appointment in Sackville to teach a course entitled COMM3391A-Critical Issues in Work and Employment. This course examines contemporary issues of differential access to decent quality work. Drawing from critical employment scholarship, this course addresses the meaning and nature of job quality; examines the consequences of poor-quality work for individuals, families and society; and considers employer practices, and organizational and structural enablers of differential job/employment quality. It considers issues of precarious and 'non-standard' work, emotional and aesthetic labour, harassment in the workplace, and occupational and labour market segregation through an intersectional lens, including issues of gender, race, age, ability, class, and immigration status. The course is scheduled with 1 section on Wednesdays at 1:30 for 3 hours in the Winter academic term 2027. The class size is approximately 30 students per section.

Although the course is scheduled in person on the Sackville campus, the possibility of delivering the course in a hybrid format (in-person and online) or synchronously online (fully online on the days/times) may be considered.
