A leader in the design, fabrication, and installation of custom overhead crane systems , O’Brien Material Handling is known for delivering dependable, high-quality solutions for industrial clients across Atlantic Canada. With a strong reputation for craftsmanship, safety, and innovation, they take pride in producing made‑to‑order systems that meet the unique needs of each client.
The Opportunity
As a Welder / Fabricator, you’ll be a key part of the production team—working on custom‑built overhead crane systems and related components from blueprint to final fit. This is a hands‑on role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, shop‑based environment and is passionate about building things that last.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
- Perform MIG (and potentially TIG) welding on structural steel and other metals
- Cut, fit, and assemble metal components for crane systems and support structures
- Operate fabrication tools including saws, torches, grinders, and plasma cutters
- Inspect finished welds for quality, strength, and alignment
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment
- Collaborate with the shop lead and installation team as needed
